Physical security audit checklist
By Inara Crest Engineering 1 min read
Walk the site with a checklist covering perimeter, entrances, sensitive rooms, cameras and procedures.
A periodic walk-through finds gaps before someone else does.
1. Perimeter
Fences, gates and lighting intact; vegetation cleared.
2. Entrances
Access control working; doors closing and locking; visitors signed in.
3. Sensitive rooms
Server rooms, cash offices and stores locked, with access records.
4. CCTV
Cameras clean, focused and covering intended areas; recording and retention working.
5. Alarms
Intrusion and electric fence alarms tested; response procedures understood.
6. Procedures
Keys and cards issued and returned properly; leavers' access removed.
7. Records and follow-up
Record findings with photographs, assign owners and dates for each fix, and check them at the next audit. Repeated findings show where procedures or equipment need to change.
