Receiving and inspecting delivered ICT equipment
By Inara Crest Engineering 1 min read
Check quantities, models, serials and condition on delivery — before installers arrive and before the supplier has left.
Problems found on delivery day are easy to resolve. Problems found during installation delay the whole project.
1. Check against the order
Count items and compare models, specifications and quantities with the purchase order and delivery note.
2. Inspect packaging
Look for crushed, wet or opened boxes. Note damage on the delivery note before signing.
3. Inspect equipment
Open a sample, or everything for critical items, and check for physical damage and missing accessories such as power cables, rack ears or licences.
4. Record serial numbers
Add serials to the asset register and match them to warranty records.
5. Store securely
Keep equipment in a locked, dry and cool area until installation.
6. Report discrepancies immediately
Notify the supplier in writing with photographs and agree how replacements will be handled.
