Site readiness checklist before installers arrive

By Inara Crest Engineering 1 min read

Idle installers and repeat visits are hidden costs. Confirm access, power, space and approvals before every installation.

Every installation depends on the site being ready. Check these items a few days before each team is scheduled.

Access

  • Building access arranged for the dates and times, including after hours if needed.
  • Contact person on site with authority to make decisions.
  • Parking, loading and lift access for equipment.

Building works

  • Civil works, ceilings, trunking and painting complete where equipment will be installed.
  • Rooms for racks and equipment cleared and lockable.

Power and environment

  • Power available at the rack and equipment locations.
  • Cooling in place for server and network rooms.
  • Earthing in place where required.

Equipment and materials

  • Equipment delivered, checked against the order and stored securely.
  • Cabling and consumables on site.

Approvals and safety

  • Permits obtained where required.
  • Safety briefing arranged and site rules shared with the team.

Information

  • Final drawings, outlet schedules and configuration details issued.
  • Network details, accounts or licences the installers need.
