Overload monitoring for private fleets and quarries
By Vicky Ogola, Senior ICT Consultant 1 min read
Quarries, plants and transporters can prevent overloading at the source — protecting vehicles, roads and their own compliance record.
Overloading is easiest to prevent where the load is put on the truck. Quarries, factories, farms and transporters can check loads before vehicles leave.
Weigh at the loading point
A weighbridge or axle scale at the site exit lets operators check each vehicle and adjust loads before departure.
Check axle distribution, not just total weight
A truck can be within its gross limit but overloaded on one axle group if the load is badly placed. Axle scales or weighbridges that report axle groups help loaders correct this.
Use the data
- Link weighings to vehicles, drivers and customers.
- Track trends by loader, product and route.
- Share load records with transporters and customers.
Protect your vehicles
Overloading wears tyres, brakes, suspensions and chassis faster and increases accident risk. Monitoring protects the fleet as well as the roads.
Integrate with operations
Connect weighing to dispatch and invoicing so loads are recorded once and used everywhere.
